Lush Peonies For Weddings

Great information on peony flowers. Most don't produce many flowers until the second or third year and may not be cut for indoor use before third year. Generally do not cut flowers from plants less than three years old and mature plants of 5 years or maybe more should be left with about 50% of their flowers intact. You should, however, eliminate the fading and dead flowers to stop seed development which burns food reserves.

Soil needs to be well-drained and excessive moisture can cause the development of fungus. Peonies thrive in sunny locations, tolerating an array of soil types. Best growth is at soil using a pH of about 6. Well-drained, loamy soil is right for good development of peonies. Peonies are heavy feeders , nor appreciate being moved therefore it is important to ensure they may be planted in good, fertile soil.
